Working with the “4th C” (Online seminar, 11 March, 9pm AEDT)
Part of the Learning through Languages UK and the Aston Centre for Applied Linguistics “CLIL Mondays” online seminar series.
Working with the “4th C”:
Where and how might culture fit in CLIL contexts?
Russell Cross (Melbourne Graduate School of Education)
This talk explores what might be particular about ‘culture’ when understood in the context of CLIL, where the focus is not only on learning language, but also non-language content? I suggest that the inclusion of content in CLIL means the presence of multiple ‘layers’ of culture and, just like the other three Cs, also demands specific attention in how teachers might identify, plan for, and scaffold cultural developing in such settings.
