The CLIL Teacher Education Lab welcomes you to the following featured seminar, that is part of its monthly Professional Learning Circle:
Reconceptualizing Language Assessment through a Sociocultural Lens: A Research Trajectory from EFL to Bilingual Contexts
A/Prof Yu-Ting Kao, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan
This presentation traces a research trajectory centered on language assessment through a sociocultural lens, branching into two strands. The first focuses on Dynamic Assessment (DA) in EFL contexts and praxis-oriented instruction for pre-service teachers’ language assessment literacy. The second explores assessment in CLIL and EMI settings—from evaluating content and language in primary and secondary schools, to professional development for EMI teachers in higher education. A forthcoming project examines collaborative assessment design between EMI and ESP teachers in engineering. Together, these lines of inquiry offer a framework for developmentally grounded, bilingual assessment in diverse educational contexts.
