Professor Sasajima is an expert in Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) with over 20 years of experience working with schools, universities, and educational institutions across Japan and abroad. He is the author of several books and articles on CLIL theory and practice including Connecting learning with elementary foreign language education through CLIL: Fostering wanting to know, communicate, and think (2019, 学びをつなぐ小学校外国語教育のCLIL実践 「知りたい」「伝え合いたい」「考えたい」を育てる) and CLIL Foundations and the SDGs (2022, CLIL 英語で学ぶSDGsの基礎).

Professor Sasajima is also co-founder and former president of the Japan CLIL Association, a network of CLIL practitioners and researchers that promotes CLIL education in Japan, and former professor at Toyo Eiwa University. He remains involved in various projects related to CLIL such as developing CLIL curricula, training CLIL teachers, and evaluating CLIL outcomes, through J-CLIL and as Chair of the Japanese CLIL Institute for Teacher Education (clil-ite.com).
