Prof Takizawa Study Visit
The Lab was pleased to host a recent study visit seminar by Prof Mayumi Takizawa, on 27 April, 2023. Mayumi is an active member of J-CLIL and CLIL-ite, and a current candidate for teacher accreditation with these organizations. For over a decade, she mainly taught English for Tourism at Tokai University and English Education for Children at Toyo Gakuen University in Tokyo.
Mayumi’s work focuses on global education using CLIL, and recent projects include Global Project-Based Learning (PBL) for Tokyo 2020 (Primary, Middle and Secondary Schools) and The Olympics & Paralympics in Action (TOPA) Project, which involved more than 30 schools from 20 countries for Tokyo2020 (&2021) and Beijing2022. She is now preparing for Paris2024.
Her current focus is on CLIL and cognition, as one of the 3 core elements comprising the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Revised Course of Study. Teachers interested in collaborating with Professor Takizawa on projects with Japanese-based CLIL teachers to develop unit/lesson templates with a focus on cognition are encouraged to get in touch.
