The CLIL Teacher Education Lab
The CLIL Teacher Education Lab is part of the Languages and Literacies Education Academic Group within the Melbourne Graduate School of Education, at The University of Melbourne.
Informed by Vygotskian sociocultural perspectives on teacher knowledge and practice, our Lab aims to build and strengthen teacher capacity in the use of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) by:
- generating new knowledge on how CLIL theory intersects with pedagogy to advance the knowledge base of language teacher education and the practice of languages teaching and learning
- supporting graduate research and research training on CLIL teacher knowledge and pedagogy
- providing academic and professional learning courses in CLIL pedagogy
- creating, disseminating, and sharing research-informed, high-quality CLIL practices, resources, and publications

J-CLIL Visit 2024
The Lab was pleased to host a three-day event with J-CLIL visit scholars from Japan on 21–23 August, 2024. The first day comprised a series of discussions and hands-on workshops.
